Optometrist

Dr. James M. Yonkee was raised in Roselle, Illinois, and is a 1990 graduate of Loyola University of Chicago, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He continued his education at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, graduating with his Doctorate of Optometry in 1994. His externships included rotations at Great Lakes Naval Hospital, providing primary eye care to recruits, active-duty personnel, and their dependents. Additional rotations in contact lenses, emergency care, retina, low vision, pediatrics, and primary care were completed at the Illinois Eye Institute adjacent to the college.

Dr. Yonkee was certified in the Medical Diagnosis and Treatment of Eye Disease in 1993 by the International Association of Boards of Examiners in Optometry and was recognized by the Illinois College of Optometry with an award for Exemplary Skill in Pediatrics and Binocular Vision in 1994. He is certified by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry and licensed to diagnose and treat eye disease in the state of Illinois.

With over 30 years of clinical experience, Dr. Yonkee provides comprehensive eye care with a specialty in Dry Eye Management, as well as the diagnosis and management of conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. He is also highly experienced in fitting a wide range of contact lenses and co-managing laser vision correction procedures.

As the owner and optometrist at Total Vision Family Eye Care in Bartlett, Illinois, Dr. Yonkee is a proud member of both the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Illinois Optometric Association (IOA). He is deeply committed to providing each patient with comprehensive, relationship-based care in a comfortable yet professional environment. His passion for optometry and dedication to staying current with the latest advancements in eye care technology ensure that patients receive the highest quality vision care possible.

When not practicing optometry, Dr. Yonkee enjoys spending time with his wife, their three children, and his hunting dog. He also enjoys running, golfing, and spending time outdoors.
